The NASDAQ Options Market Joins The Options Industry Council
The NASDAQ Options Market has become a member of The Options Industry Council (OIC). NASDAQ Options Market joins the member firms and other exchanges of OIC (American Stock Exchange, Boston Options Exchange, Chicago Board Options Exchange, International Securities Exchange, NYSE Arca, Philadelphia Stock Exchange and The Options Clearing Corporation) in helping to promote the use of equity options through education.

OIC Announces April Volume Increases 43 Percent
OIC announced today that 281,722,376 total options contracts changed hands in April, continuing the high-growth trend experienced over the last several years and representing a 43.09 percent increase over April 2007 volume. Average daily volume for the month was 12,805,562 contracts.

OIC Announces January Trading Soars 81%, Setting New Monthly Volume Record
OIC announced today that total options trading volume in January came in at 357,163,288 contracts, an 80.77 percent increase over the year-ago level of 197,577,509 contracts. This sets a new monthly trading volume record 15 percent higher than the previous record set in November 2007.

OIC Announces Options Trading Volume Increases 41% Setting New Record In 2007
OIC announced today that new annual volume record was set in 2007 with a total of 2,862,826,218 contracts changing hands, surpassing 2006’s record by 41.18%. Equity options volume reached 2,592,102,961 contracts, exceeding the 1,844,181,918 total equity options volume contracts traded in 2006 by 40.56% percent.
